So I've been enjoying the XB900 all day today.  If they are the same as XB800 then there is something wrong with my XB800.  The XB900 sounds like the X10.  It's awesome!  I'm gonna get another pair of XB800 just to see if there is something wrong with my XB800 because the XB900 is 10x better.

here are some pictures of the two.

XB900 on the Left, XB800 on the Right.  Aside from the aesthetics of the cups, MDR-XB800 also is taller than the XB900.

Hifiguy...are you saying xb800 supposed to be better? Or xb900 is surely better...because i want to try and place my order for this thing. My plan is to get xb900.

I read that the XB800 & XB900 are the same so I wanted to try them for myself.  I understand that there may be production differences in sound, but the ones I have sounded very different.  I don't think they are the same.

The cable is not removable so I can't swap them to try.

My XB900 is better than my XB800. The X10 is awesome and best of the bunch. The new X05 is also really good. I think the new X-series should have been the XB500 & XB700 replacements. The stupid browser on my work computer doesn't permit embedding the video. I'll fix it when I get home. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcMWrytX48c

So, who is gonna try the XB920? Seemingly just the X10 though for some other markets. Specs say they weigh 5 grams more and they put the F.R. to 28,000 instead of 29,000 for the X10. The XB610 and X05 have the same F.R. though.

OH, nice to know that. now I see why my xb900 and xb920 sounds the same......ur xb800 looks like my upper-sized xb600...No wonder they are not as good.

if you want more bass, use the E07K, it is nice. if you want more power, go for the E12. Currently I use E12 with my ipod classic, and it drives all my xb series very well. hope this is helpful

yes I have them both with me~! right now. and they sound the same, as I did the AB, but one thing you should note is that, you need to use the cable without the mic. otherwise it will sound a little different. other than that, they are exactly the same in soudwise

is sony going to do that???? im not sure, xb920/ x10 are currently with their flagship price tag ($299) which is same as the xb1000. I dont think they will make another 70mm XB series headphone.
