IIRC, if you pull the bottom of the earpad down, and look inside to where it connects to the frame (going by reference of the XB700s) There are a few screws around the perimeter of the inside, but you have to pull sort of hard to get the pad to move out of the way enough.
Did you ever get these babies open? I'm very curious about these headphones because they only sound good for very specific genres, such as old-school Bass tracks, but for most anything from rock, metal to country, they have to be heavily EQ'd. However, after they are EQ'd they have excellent detail and imaging. But what did Sony do to make them produce extra bass? Is it something that could be altered to convert them to regular headphones? I really want to know.
