I'd like to know which of these is better, both for audio monitoring and for DJing. Knowing why would also be good.
I knwo this is probably the 1000th time someone posted this so linking me to other topics is just fine

Hi OD---welcome!
smily_headphones1.gif

the short of it is that those who have heard both phones seem to favor the 280s. There is a price difference ($60 vs $80-100) between the V6 and the 280s, and the V6s are fine phones, but I think the 280s are worth the extra bucks.

280 has a better balanced midrange, and even better bass than the V6 (which already has excellent bass response.) The 280 also has a broader soundstage and better comfort and isolation. The Senns also have a 2 year warranty.

The V6 though is more portable and smaller (though it weighs more). The Sony is also made of metal and plastic, while the 280 is made of plastic only, giving the V6 theoretically more toughness, but both phones seem very sturdy.

Feel free to look at other posts, but I would say get the 280s if you can afford them. If you only want to spend $60 though, the V6 will probably make you happy.

As follow-up, buy.com still has the HD280 for $77.77, and they are in stock. Might make the decision a little easier.

After all the nice comments, I though I would check out the HD280. Buy.com does not seem to have them anymore. I just check their site by searching, & the only Senn's they have are the 570 and the 500.

I read the other 280 thread and couldn't find any mention of how they compare to the Beyer 250-80's (which I am getting soon). Does anyone have any comparison of the two?
