Same thing... except cosmetic differences on the outside of the earcup and a gold TRS connector. I for one dont believe Sony screened all the "top performing" MDRV6 drivers and shelved them for ~3 years untill the release of the 7506... that is seen as a form of waste by traditional Japanese (just in time) mass production principles.
**edit**
IMHO The reported sound differences are more the results of psycho-acoustics than anything else.

A long time ago MacDEF had a pair of Sony's that on one earcup said V6, and on the other said 7506. To him (and me frankly) that was good enough to convince that they are basically the same, I think they were tooled on the same production line too.
Meh....i have a pair of 7506's anyways, when I bought them it was too much of a hassle to try to get V6's in Canada.
The 7506 has vaporized diamond coated polymer drivers; serves the same purpose as titanium coated polymer drivers in other brands. I don't know
if the V6 has the diamond coating too.
Proved that despite its huge size the CD3000 can be shoved down one's throat.

Do a search and you will find lots of posts of both worlds, people who believe both things, IMO they are not the same headphone but to many people they are so I will not waste my time arguing....the theory of the different cups just proved that they were assembled in the same line of production or one close enough to let this human error happen, who knows, but IMO that does not prove that they are the same headphone at all (I have seen CD3000 with wooden cups, and that does not mean they grow on trees neither.....LOL....
) but believe what you want, one cost considerable more than the other BTW, not only 10.00....the V6, the last time I saw in tower records, it was 69.00 the 7506 in any guitar center runs for far more....
Try a pro musician equipment store. Their distributor should be able to
get 7506 pads (same as V6). The V6 may have been discontinued so the SONY clerks may have gotten confused.
