Sony MDR-R10 on Sony.com

How odd. And they don't even make mention of what they are or anything of the sort, just an image floating out there in space. Usually I'd expect to be able to click that and be taken to a page where I can buy or read about the pictured item - not just have a picture in space.

Ah, now I see it. I had clicked on other links (with images of in-production models) to get to the headphone section.

Anyways...my guess is that they're showcasing their heritage, so to speak, and subtly bragging about their prior accomplishments, without saying anything overtly to those out of the loop. Plus it's just a pretty image to catch attention.

It would be quite funny if Sony sold a third revision of the MDR-R10 for around $2,500 MSRP. Even funnier if it was a "mids-heavy" sound signature.
