So I am currently ony second pair of these headphones and they are still making a slight creaking noise when moving my jaw. Not all the times but sometimes. Is there any way I can fix this problem?
Sad to hear about your second pair, but please back-read (or use the "Search This Thread" link and search "creak") coz there have been multiple postings of possible "fixes" to reduce if not eliminate the creaking noise. Here's a link to search of "creak": http://www.head-fi.org/newsearch/?search=creak&resultSortingPreference=recency&byuser=&output=posts&sdate=0&newer=1&type=all&containingthread%5B0%5D=818871&advanced=1
Some used sandpaper, dry lubricant, powder, tape, toilet paper, etc to apply on the plastics making the creaks.
Don't worry, I personally had this issue with my 1000X and after trying the powder and tape "fix", the creak noise was significantly reduced, you're "fix" may vary.
Now a happy owner.
And how exactly is ldac undone by Bluetooth 5?
Sorry but I don't know about dry lubricants, I just read others used them on their units. I'm actually contented with my unit after the "practical fixes" I applied which didn't cost a thing.
I had the option to return the unit too, but I needed the Ambient Sound, NC, good SQ, and the fit-for-my-ears features of the 1000X.
Depends on how badly you needed the unit's features and your patience for applying any of the "fixes".
I suggest you try any of the "fixes" which won't break the unit and it's warranty (and hopefully won't cost you anything).
OK thank you. I am curious on the fix you did, in which you applied that grease on the headphones. Where did you buy it and has there been any side since you applied the grease?
Oh I didn't apply grease, and I think they will actually be dangerous to the unit, so I wouldn't try them.
Here are some useful attempts to fix the creak / click noises:
1. I first applied powder here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/818871/sony-mdr-1000x/825#post_13015691
2. Then I also tried with tape: http://www.head-fi.org/t/818871/sony-mdr-1000x/915#post_13045249
3. Powerwolf tried it with label sticker: http://www.head-fi.org/t/818871/sony-mdr-1000x/915#post_13041864
4. beowulf tried it with sandpaper: http://www.head-fi.org/t/818871/sony-mdr-1000x/915#post_13045372
I think those should be enough to get you started.
Thank you very much for the help and effort into helping me find a solution to this problem!
I don't have this noise. Conclusion Sony users are experts in servicing for free their new Sony headphones. If you are not that an expert and have no access to Headfi, good luck with the noise from mdr 1000x.
You think the few who report it here versus units sold makes it a "majority of users"? Go ahead, get some sales figures and tally up the "creak" reports here. Then get back to us with your revelation.Good then! You are not in the majority of users!
