Yikes, at 405g i think i'll pass. The sony's are a featherweight in comparison.

Huh, that's heavier than my X1's (at 362g).

Yea they sound like a great pair of headphones, its funny because this is the first ever cans I'll get, always been a iem guy myself.

Im wondering if cans will be a new experience for me, I mean going from 9mm, 16mm to 40mm has to mean something right?

Depends what iems you've been using, some of them give full size cans a run for their money. But generally a full sized headphone will give a better soundstage than an iem.

$5 VE Monk earbuds sound amazingly similar to the 100aap's. That's not a knock on the 100aap's - only a testament to how good the Monks are.

Hmm these colors.....

The "blue" is more a green color, the only other two I'd consider is the red and black, something about the red draws me in but it seems really bright lol

The black is obviously the safe choice, goes with anything but that red...

Maybe I should go with my gut and get the red.

The proper name of the color on the blue ones are metallic petroleum blue. There is petrol blue which is a dark blue with grey in it and then petroleum blue a light blue with green in it, it is closely related to teal color but not quite that green. Here a picture:

The sofa in the front is petrol blue while the wall in the background is petroleum blue.

Another example with petroleum floor: http://country.bolon.com/sv/product/petroleum-2/

I think it is a gorgeous color!

These are still in the running for my selection but still have some concerns...

How well do they isolate sounds compared to ATH-M50? How much sound do they leak compared to ATH-M50? Those bass ports on the cups is of concerns...

The cable could be a problem since I intend to use them mostly with my PC connected to one of the speakers that in turn is hooked up to my Asus Xonar DG sound card with built in head phone amp. This works very well with my M50's but will I even get sounds in these Sony's considering it is a cable with 4 poles and also balanced? I am definitely also going to need an extension cable (need a total of 8 feet 4 inches or 2.5 meters). Do this extension cable also need to be balanced to not loose any sound quality?

Read through a lot of great comments and reviews.  Need a pair of primarily in-home use headphones and are very intrigued by these MDR-100AAP, Yamaha MT-220 and perhaps the Oppo PM-3.  Tried to find a comparison on these but no luck.  Anyone care to comment?  Appreciate the help.
