Sony DVP-NS500V vs. Sony CE775 SACD Players

I have an NS500V on order, and it should be arriving within the next several days -- one of my DVD players was on the blink, so naturally the NS500V was a shoe-in replacement given all the hubbub. Before it does video duty, I'll be sure to put it in my main headphone rig to compare it to the following:
  1. Sony SCD-C333ES
  2. Creek CD53 Reference
  3. Arcam Diva CD72T
  4. Music Hall MMF-CD25
  5. NAD C541i
Though I have a couple of DACs on hand, I'm more interested in how it compares as a one-box to these others also as one-boxers.

I'll let the NS500V run in for a while, then I'll post some quick comments (Lord knows how long I'd be if I tried to make this NS500V comparison a full review).

My Max has two inputs, so these comparisons should be pretty fun and simple.

By the way, a MASSIVE price drop for all SACD players - 775, single disk version, and 500V player have all dropped in price in Canada, in all stores that I've seen them in. 775 is now at HALF the price it was a week ago!!! I've NEVER seen Sony drop the price so much. As I've said, from the electronics point of view, 775 is good and definitely not something that would be cut to half price because of bad quality, although who knows how reliable the mechanism is... So 775 is $250, single disk version is only $200 and 500V is $350, all Canadian dollars.

Yeah...seriously...just yesterday I saw an NS500V for about 150$

I am tempted...but none of the music I like is on SACD. I guess vinyl is the way to go for now.
