I have a Sony D5 and it was working great, was using a Radio Shack power supply with no problems. The power-supply allows me to switch to the specific power needs of the D5.

The device will start, it spins up then shuts down. It used to do this when I used the battery-pack and the batts were low.

Anyone know how to fix it or a place that can repair a D5?

Have you check through the discman repair thread? It sounds like the laser might need readjusting. It powers up and is uunable to read anything so it turns off. check the sticky on discman repairs to figure out how to deal with this.

WOW, I'm new to fixing a D5 and most of this went over my head.. anyone have a service manual or something for a D5? Any specialized repair centers out there?
