Yes, Sony does have a habit of killing their best products - Qualia, anyone? Sad, really. I miss their ES series of SACD players... the current flagship (SCD-XA9000ES, unavailable in Canada) has been around since 2003.

why peopel rate the sonys so low. Yes they are no grado rs1 and no akg k 701 and no sennheiser hd 650. But for portable use they do their job pretty well. IMO better then the sennheiser hd 25. btw: i own rs 1 and sennheiser hd 25 ...

The value for $ was too low at $169.99 in Canada. They sounded good, but at that price, a lot of cans beat them handily.
