Anybody knows if the DACs are at the same level? The amps are definitely not, the S-Master mx sounds way better, but the DAC... I have no idea.

If it all sounds better altogether, what is the point in looking at the DACs individually? I do not see how the Sansa could have a better DAC.

A86x is better than all Sansas together.People get excited about Sansa players, because they are cheap and they provide good SQ AT THAT PRICEPOINT. A96x is a different class altogether.

I know it is but thats due to the built-in amp. The s-master mx. It sounds WAY better. I'm just asking about the DAC as I could use a Fuze with LOD to my amp and the amp section of the fuze wouldn't be used. Do you know what I mean?

I do now that you have explained what you want. Honestly hard to say, but I do not see how Sansa could have a better DAC.

My Sony E465 is about equal to my Sansa Clip Zip.
Best info I can offer.

Yes, the E series doesn't sound near as good as the A86x series. I have tested it extensively. Pretty bad.
