Hi,

I'm looking for a set of headphones to go with my D555 discman

I've narrowed down my choices to the Sony 7506, Audio Technica AT55 and the Philips SBC 890. I also liked the Beryerdynamic 250 but it's too expensive for me at the moment. Which one has the most bang for the buck? Size doesn't really matter to me. But I might value isolation as the 80 % of the time I'll be wearing it will be when I'm studying.

just curious...if you were to buy the 7506, where would you buy them, and for how much?

the best price locally i have found on the 7506 is at Long And McQuade Musical Instruments for $179....

I bought a pair of 7506s from a local Guitar World for $100. you can find them in music stores (instruments n stuff). Its funny, when I walked in looking for them and said I want to see their Sony headphones they immediately broke out the v600s.

The 7506s were hangin on the headphone wall though... just up high.

I was going to get the V6s online instead, but I had an extra 100 bucks in store credit from returning stuff.

The a55 can be easily driven by a portable cd player. They really do sound excellent, they are comfy, and they provide good isolation when the music is going.

Does your d555's bassboost effect the lineout? You can get the beyers for $230 from steves music if can't find any of the above phones for cheap (watch out for border taxes plus insanely high brokerage fees).

The HP890s don't isolate that well, being open and all. But then again, they isolate better than some open headphones..


Funny how everyone says "size doesn't matter" until they actually see the HP890s, then they understand why people say they're huge.

NotoriousBIG_PJ: Thanks for the tip. Seems like a good price especially when the cheapest that I find online for the Beyerdynamic 250 was USD$150 without shipping.

and come to think of it if it's too big it's quite a pain to carry around.

Any one here with the Sennheiser 280 Pro? I completely ommitted the headphone from the lineup but it seems for the price it's the closest performer to the Beyerdynamic 250
