I didn't see a specific genre mentioned....so this will be all over the board.
Specifics (that will catch you off guard, if you have a setup to replicate the notes...).
Telarc - Tchaikovsky: 1812 Overture - Eric Kunzel & Cincinnati Pops Orchestra (cannons near the end)
Evanescence - Fallen Album - Bring Me to Life (about 10 seconds in....)
From the 50 Greatest Pieces of Classical Music - London Philharmonic
Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, Op. 46: Morning Mood
Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, Op. 46: In the Hall of the Mountain King
Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op. 67, "Fate": Allegro con brio
In general....Nickelback, 80s-90s Michael Jackson, Disturbed, Breaking Benjamin, Pink Floyd, 38 Special, ZZ Top, Some Rush (Mystic Rhythms-song, Roll the Bones-album), Basia (Time and Tide - album), Seal (Bring It On - Album). I could name many more.....
I'm a big fan of almost any music with a heavy rhythm section (but absolutely no RAP, trance, dance/electronic, or anything resembling these as genres). I actually go out of my way listening to all sorts of stuff with MOG and Slacker....to find it....and then buy the full CD versions.
I also like to use both portable and desktop (tube) amps that help 'warm' the music, as well as headphones/IEMs. I need tight, accurate, controlled bass....But....I don't consider myself a total 'bass head' (that, IMO, is reserved for the RAP, Trance, etc. genres, FWIW).
