My father played Johnny Cash, Rolling Stones, and Israel Kamakawiwo'ole often enough for me to become familiar with them, and love them.
Unfortunately, he played a bunch of oldies groups (and the Beatles, since technically they're not oldies) so much that I now loathe them, even though their music isn't necessarily bad.

Some of them are already gone or retired. People from asia would know Paula Tsui, Teresa Teng (not Cantopop, gone), Roman Law (gone), and Anita Mui (the "asian Madonna", gone) and Michael Kwan(Retired) ...etc.
I remember them playing the cassette in the car.

That eventually lead me down to the oldies route. It almost have that same comforting sound. Kinda like the best meals are the ones that Mom cooks. These ones you can retaste any time.
