Get the quicktag plugin[on foobar.org]. Set a 'Rating' quicktag, values are whatever ratings you want[mine R 1-5]. Set keyboard shortcuts[mine R 'ShftF1-ShftF5' global] and 'Require confirmation big #....works on numerous songs while foobar minimised.
Here is my titleformatting for up to 5:


$rgb(255,0,0)$ifgreater(%rating%,0,$repeat(#,%rati ng%)$repeat( ,$sub(5,%rating%)),) $rgb(0,0,0)


I rate with Red #'s.


edit - It adds a tag, so it alters the file if you back-up by syncing.
