Something 'big' coming from SanDisk, complete with cape

By Sean Hollister posted Mar 20th 2010 10:10AM

Something big is coming March 23rd, and like a good used car salesman, SanDisk has rolled out an inflatable superhero in its honor. What could it be? We honestly have no idea. SanDisk has already introduced 64GB SDXC cards and the G3 SSD, condensed commercial FM into sugary syrup with slotRadio, and generally exploited NAND in every way imaginable. The company's not scheduled to introduce 128GB chips until 2011, and rewritable 3D flash is still years out. That said, SanDisk does have experience in the portable audio/video realm, and that notch on our wide, cape-wearing friend does look awfully familiar... Oh please, no, not another blasted tablet. We jest, of course, but what could a memory manufacturer possibly be planning that warrants such a teaser page?

[Thanks, Steve]

Hmmm, wonder what that could be. Larger capacity NAND maybe?

I honestly hope its a bigger capacity Fuze. I'd love a 32GB with a microSD slot. And if its a completely new line of players it'll probably still be 16-64GB with a microSD slot because it's more profit for SanDisk. Buy their players, then buy their memory.

So I'm hoping for a 32 or 64GB player, as long as it comes with a microsd slot. :p

I'm hoping for a 64gb Fuze, or a Sansa View (64gb as well) done right. Really, I hope this is some great DAP news.

As they say "To each their own".

Actually I'd think that a high capacity player from SanDisk would be pretty big news. Honestly the mascot even looks like a Fuze with legs and arms. I'd love a 32 or 64GB Fuze. It just has to have a microSD slot though.

I've read some speculation of this being SanDisk's release (finally) of a 32GB microSDHC card (which the duplicate "32s" in the release date would seem to support)...but at least we don't have to wait long to find out.

A true Digital output player with color would be nice. Something to rival Apple but with the option of digital output not Apple's analog output.
