I am considering listing my Stax sr001 MKII for sale or trade for an MG Head. I really love these Stax, but you know, it's a disease! I must have more experience with more stuff! anyway, I will be driving my HD 600s with the MG Head and am really eager to get into Tubes...
So...
Talk me into or out of this idea.

You could wait until the reviews are posted for the MAD Ear 4 and the HAP-03.

Should be some good competition for the MG Head.

There is no way I can talk you out of tubes.... maybe Nick Dangerous can help.

Nooooooooooooooo.......DON'T DO IT!!!!
I have the Stax in question......and the Head (well, Neruda has it on loan).....and the HD600s. To my ears, there is more excitement coming out of those little Stax's than out of the Head/600 combo.
I was without my Stax for a few days (another dog story

), and I just had to order another pair. The wait seemed interminable. Granted, they have a definite high end roll off, but there is something that these little electrostatics do to the music that you will miss. If you can somehow manage to keep them, if solely for portable use, you'll be glad you did. Just my opinion, of course.
