I have owned a pair of HD598's for a few years now, in combination with a self built AMB γ2 DAC and AMB M³ amp (with 30V σ11 PSU and 3xOPA627). 
These days I listen to many genres but most of the time electronic. 
 
Now I'm looking for an upgrade (budget about 500$), which would ideally give me more bass extension and higher granularity without losing the airy, musical feel of my current rig.
 
I assume my headphones are the weakest link at the moment, any upgrade advice would be most appreciated!
