Here is my first CMoy in the Altoids tin. I built 2 others in the Serpac case and always thought the Altoids would be too cramped, until I saw Sol_Zhen's nice CMoy. I wasn't too crazy about the pot, so I build them without one.

I am almost done with my META42 in the Hammond enclosure, I just have to wire up the AC power supply. I will post pics of that when it is done.

Yea. That's odd. But, it's for the powersupply so as long as they have the right values...

It looks nice.

Why did you go with no volume pot? Not having a volume pot means that you have to depend on a portable's volume control.

It’s probably not a bad idea for you to cover the bottom of the tin with a layer of electrical tape as insulation and then use double-sided mounting tape to secure the board to the case.

They are the same values, but one is a Radio Shack and the other is from Digikey.

The bottom of the tape is insulated with scotch tape and the board is pretty secure from the 2 white wires. I need to put some foam on the lid to keep the battery in place.

Nice job. I noticed you either wrapped your connections or used heat shrink tubing.

I tried a pot on a previous CMoy and it just seemed that the pot did not do anything until it was at the high end of its travel. I just use the source's volume control, which does mean I have some hiss during quiet music.

Odd. I never had that issue. I rarely turn the pot more than 1/4 and it gets plenty loud.

Is there a difference when using different types of resistors for R4 i.e. you have an oxide resistor.

technically, no because r4 isn't in the signal path but metal films maintain their quoted value under different temperatures better...

I just measured the values of r4 and they are both 9.95K (on my cheap meter). They are both metal film resistors, except that one is a BC components from Digikey and one is a Radio Shack. I can not hear a difference.

Look up some info on logarithmic taper vs linear taper.

I think you were using linear taper instead of log taper(which is what most people use).
