Leather is a natural product, so some level of variation is normal and doesn't necessarily mean they aren't both leather

Good point. Though, I'm almost positive the left pad is leather free. The left ear has the same feel (dry) as the pleather car seats in my Mazda, while the right ear is significantly more buttery / leathery in feel . Also softer.

Hmm yeah could be a manufacturing mix-up

This simply looks like two leather earpads/cups where the grain doesn't match grain pattern/hair density (different cows), maybe tanned different times/days.

You can always get Audeze involved, they'll check serial number to verify. From what I've seen here on Head-Fi, they are proactive.

Those are both 100% real leather. Our leather-free pads look nothing like those.

As someone mentioned leather grain will have variations, and may not match up perfectly.

We cannot guarantee any replacements will look identical.
