I have a Xytronic XY9-60A. No experience with the 379. The model I have is excellent so far and well built. They heat up FAST. I've used 1 tip for a couple of weeks now with no visible deterioration. The tips are $4.79 ea (for the 379 too). I'd have gone through 2 radio shack tips by now.

When I bought my station I spoke to the seller and he stated everthing was backed up by the company on his end.

I think a few others around here have Xytronic irons and they were happy.

They are not a new company. They don't seem to be a knock off company as they produce a lot of solder related equipment.

I'm coming from a RS 20/40 so take all this relative to that.

"Soldering Station for Lead Free Solder "

How is an iron for lead-free solder different from any old ordinary iron?
