Having owned the dac1421, differences between the default filters are subtle. I can only hear them with revealing headphones.

Try NOS, no digital filters?

The Soekris dac1321 is not a NOS R2R dac, and a NOS filter isn't installed by default, with the default "off" option a butterworth filter. However, should you want to, there are NOS filters people have created and installed with a bit of DIY.

That said, the dac buffers and reclocks the input before oversampling it, and it does it well in my opinion.
