Culprit: AKG K271 Studio

Crime: Earpads kept getting overly hot and moist after prolonged listening.

Suspect: Synthetic leather pads being very unbreathable.

Solution: SOCKS!

(turned inside out so they are more fuzzy)

Result: Works great. Sounds great. Wears even better! Plus, they now look like pillows, and I quite like the look. Makes me want to wear them even more for those bang-up times!

Pics to come tommorow! Stay tuned!

I've been very pleased with the results. And it was remarkably easy to do, only took me about 15 minutes.

You'll have to excuse the condition of my desk....

Well I was rummaging through my dresser looking for a pair of old tube sicks and thats what I found! It smelled like new laundry so I cut em up and slipped em on! Voila!

Theres very little noticeable difference with the sound. I didnt fold the socks in on themselves so theres only one "layer" of sock there (over the original pads, sewn on...badly). The drivers are placed quite close to the ears, touching really, so there isnt much room for the sound to bounce around in the earcups anyway. However, I suspect sound seems cleaner and more up-front, less polite. Which is a good thing, these are rather forgiving phones.....

On the other hand, thats probably just BS and my brain is probably playing tricks on because the cans are now WAY more comfy to wear!

*proceeds to go to sleep with them...as pillows.*

I used nylon panyhose for one of mine. It looks very ghetto as there's no pads

Haha yup, thats my 915. Its being neglected at the moment though since I managed to dig up an archaic Panasonic SL-S400!

Only works if I put about 5 pounds of books on top of it though...

The socks....well I actually suspect that they are the only tube socks I have in the house. On top of that, I think I may have worn these back in...kindergarten!!!

Yes, i think they are very old indeed! (they smell good though.)
