Since people have posted favorite shows, I have to put a word in for The Young Ones...which i hope to buy on DVD as soon as my budget permits.
so who still digs Fawlty Towers and Monty Python

I think that the Monty Python movies have held up much better than the tv series, too much topical (dated) humour.

Bean over Adder? If Rowan Atkinson had died rather than sold out, he'd be rolling in his grave. The early Black Adder series were great!
My favorite sketch as a kid was always the bicycle repair man but I also like the book shop sketch ("How about The Sale of Two Titties?") and on the two-CD set called Monty Python's The Final Rip-Off, the adapted-for-radio version of Chekhov's Cherry Orchard.
