Hi I am having trouble understanding what kind of hole I need for these capacitors:

The datsheet seens to suggest a simple 2mm diameter hole, however whats with the strange shape of the pins? I have some of these capacitors and apart from the stange pin shape they also have large metal pads joining the pin to the plastic bottom of the capacitor. Could anyone explain why they have such weird pins instead of leads like normal capacitors (I would get normal ones but hard to find cheapish HV caps).

The weird shape is so they snap in to a standard 0.062" PCB. That keeps them captive and stable while soldering. It takes a bit of a push to get them in, but they stay put.

The hole pattern is as you describe. I use 0.076" diameter plated holes, on 0.40" centers, and 0.150" outside diameter pads.

Pete
