smells like paint, it gets stronger when the amp is hot but if it's turned off and cool, I can only smell that right on top of if....

and I hope it isn't harmful to my health...

I can't say that I've smelt anything like that from my Darkvoice and I also have mine in my bedroom and it's usually on for 2hrs or more.

As others here have already mentioned, it's either the paint coating or the varnish on the transformer getting heated up. Hope it's not the varnish on
the transformer though, as this can lead to more dire things..

It is working hard to provide you with power. It's bound to work up a sweat right?? It will go away in a few days, if not, and it doesn't make you sick, show it to your friends, they will be impressed!
