Hi,

Sorry for such a dumb question, in my opinion, but I was browsing the amplifier discussion forums a few (2-3) weeks ago and stumbled across a new, incredibly small headphone amp, and now I can't remember what it's called. That's really all that I remember about it - it was new, very small, and very nice looking, and it was relatively inexpensive (maybe between $80 and $120). Anybody have any ideas what I may be thinking of? FYI, I know it's not the Xin. Thanks a lot!

Could it have been the iBasso T1? Really tiny - even smaller than it seems in the photos - glossy and nicely styled.

I do like the sound and features of the very small MiniBox-D, but here are 2 pics of the iBasso T1 from their ebay post:

[EDIT: Oh! The previous post appeared while I was preparing this one -- oh well…]

I saw the white one at the ALO table at HeadFest aqnd was shocked at how small and pretty it is. It sounded pretty good, too. The MiniBox-D has a more robust & powerful sound, but the T1 is really cute. The white finish is almost translucent and very nice.

I don't know if they've made it smaller than the version in these pics, but the white one I saw seemed to me to feel tinier than the impression these pics gives.

lol.

that wasn't hard.

I guess when it comes to amps with "designer" cases, there really isn't much to choose from.....

which in retrospect is a little disappointing. We need some real designers to sort this problem out.

The iBasso T2 (priced for 109$ US on their web site http://www.ibasso.com/ShowProduct.aspx?ID=29 ) is really a very nice amp for the price. Great functions with the bass and wide switch and no to forget the gain switch. You can also run two headphones off it at the same time. I did a comparison and this one was one of my favorites below the Headamp portables and the Xin Reference. RSA amps were not in this comparison. The Xin Reference on top looks bigger than it is. It looks to me almost as small as the T2 but of course it is not. Note that my AE-1 is over 18 months old and the screen printing has come off on the input and output plugs. Also note the dual plugs on the Xin Reference for eighth and quarter input/output, very handy.

I read somewhere on here that the T2 does not pick up any cell phone noise at all.
