Anybody knows of a small freeware that can edit mp3 without losing quality? I simply wanna cut a part of a long mp3 file I have and want it to stay in 320kbps

The problem with Audacity is that it don't support lossless editing of MP3 files (if I have not missed out on something). The file need to be exported, and hence re-encoded. Which the additional quality loss that mean...

^yup, I'm pretty sure files have to be converted to wav to be edited. mp3directcut works like a charm if you only need to cut mp3s. I remember trying to convert aiff to wav with audacity I had to restart several times because it crashed.

I cut 20 minutes of silence off a song tonight. I use Adobe Audition, it is completely lossless...its not freeware mind.
