So after using ES900i for some time , questions :-

- is it still better than ES800 and what difference

- would it be an upgrade or similar sound signature

Oh man, I just got myself the ES800M and I already love them.
 
They sound almost exactly like the Sennheiser CX150 and CX175s that I have, and retail on those is in the $60 range. I know that sound signature may not be for everyone, but if you have a pair of Sennheisers that you love then you need to check these out. Still can't believe they were only $9. Damn!
 
EDIT NEXT DAY: These sounded great, then the left channel gave out for no reason I can figure. Literally less than 3 hours playing time. Too good to be true I guess. I have a feeling I won't be satisfied with the return process. Oh well.

I'll should get my second pair tomorrow. We'll see then.....I have a feeling the headphones lack of any visible port makes it very suspectible to driver flex, and bad enough driver flex that it killed my first pair. Sounds great, yes, but doesn't do you much good if they only last a week.

Got my new pair of ES800s today as expected. Man, these things sound good. So far none of the driver flex that I suspect killed the first pair. Started with Sony tips, then switched to Koss foam. Think the foam tips work better as they cull a bit of edgy treble. To my ears at least, Meier crossfeed also went a long way towards taming this problem. Although that may just be the source material.
 
Some nice sub-bass rumble with these. Low midrange is a little colored, I had to back down the EQ around the 250 Hz mark. Otherwise these are pretty much unbeatable at the $8-9 price range (assuming this pair doesn't also grenade on me).

Can you post quick impressions on them? The new Q9, Q35, and TE800i are pretty sweet too.

Q9 are too large for my ears and uncomfortable. I ordered the Q35 but I'm yet to receive them.

Should've mentioned this earlier but the ES800's seem very well put together. Flat cable, sturdy stress reliefs, a big chunky piece of metal at the Y-split and the same at the jack. And you get a nice little pouch too. Good deal for, again, 9 dollars.

A lot of the AWEI and JBM line are the same way, yet some of them just aren't that good. I've been trying to put all the info together in a chinese audio brand thread, to help find the good and not so good ones.

I have a quite a few Of Chinese brand such as Awei,JBM,XKDun,Kanen and been using them for almost a year and still in good working condition. Normally when I get them , this what I do ....I will wrap up the Y joint with heat shrinking tube and the 3.5mm jack with plastic see thru tubing and heat shrinking tube before I put them to use. Also another heat shrinking tube as as a cord slider. Pic below JBM MJ720 IEM with microphone

So far all my China made brand are working fine.

Also did some mod on my Monoprice where the cable cord is fabric type which is a bitch to untangle after use and also very noisy during usage when brush against yr clothing ...this is what I have done ...wrapped the cable via chinese staircase friendship band ...no more problem untangling or noisy microphonic.

I think QC on these chinese made are bit dodgy when they they are mass produced and sold at really cheap price but some branded one that I have previously owned like Senheiser,Sony and Philips also have the same problem too especially the joint area ie. the Y splitter and the audio jack after certain period of time. Also a lot of branded names are mostly made in China nowadays.

i guess its how you use and take care of your earphone and most of all ...when buying hope that you get a properly wired securely earphone.

But after using see through plastic tubing to reinforced the audio jack and heat shrinking tube for the Y joint and jack ....it has really minimised problem I used to have with dodgy connection unless my favourite **** up when I take off my motorbike helmet ...yank it so hard that earpiece and the wire are separated...no amount of care will do.

Actually I have done up a few wrap up on some of iem collection ...Yuin PK2 , Soundmagic E10 , Philips SHE3580 and on some of Chinese made brands ie Awei Q3 & Q5 and Kanen KM-92.... Will post some iem porno when I have the time to snap some pics.

Like yr thread on Asian made brand...respect for trying them out.

I haven't used the ES800M for couple of months and listened to them again this morning and I must say that I don't remember that they used to sound as good as they sound to me now. The bass is less punchy than the JBM or the XKDUN but is very well extended. I feel that the highs decay a little too fast and loose some micro detail. The mid is a bit recessed but the overall sound is very pleasing and non fatiguing. I think that the ES800M is a great pair of IEM's for the price.
