If you get the SuperMacro, you may want to consider the dip switches.
Impedence (adds 75 ohms - useful for ety 4s)
Amp (adds higher gain in case you are deaf or have super high imp phones)
Bass (for when you are in the mood or have phones that don't produce bass well)
Crossfeed (useful for old music or if music playing in one side bothers you)
Basically, all four are useful. I have the SM, but have not compared it to other amps, so I won't comment on that.
I will say I love the sound with the 627 and battery life is very good. There are some little things that have been mentioned (DC jack, small dipswitches)....go read his details, it's well written and show how much love he's put into this amp. It comes with DC adapter that he knows works with the unit (has 220V switch for UK). You even have the option of fooling the unit into being in AC power mode for what he calls "high bandwidth mode". I liked his write up so much (and the review of it here), that I bought it.
Good luck.
