Finally got my HM5s in the mail yesterday.  Listened to them at work yesterday and was really pleased with the sound.  Running from my ipod through my JDS Cmoy Amp.  Really like the sound.  I do see a similarity to the signature of the 650s.  Nice clarity, perhaps a touch more treble, but not bright and definitely not sibilant.  No midrange muddiness as I have seen reported.  For the price, I think they are excellent.
 
However, when I brought them home, I plugged them in to my Little Dot MK IV and I noticed a bit of background buzz.  Buzz was present with both sets of cables.  Plugged the 650s back into the Little Dot and did not hear a buzz at all.  Put the HM5s back and the buzz was back.  
 
Definitely slight, but definitely there.  A buzzing I had not noticed on the portable rig  
 
Any thoughts?  My initial thought was the cable, but I don't have a replacement cable with the right plug.
 
Anyone experience this?  Thoughts?
