I'm looking into a new set of Mattress. I've been reading on the differences of the latest mattress technology, ie. Latex core, linked coils vs. Pocketed coils, or Memory foam. However, I would like to tap into the wealth of knowledge from the Head-Fiers first.

Please feel free to make recommendation. I haven't set the budget for this purchase. I know that I can go the range of $1500, but I'd still consider option of "Best for the bucks".

TIA.

I've had a McRoskey Airflex mattress for some time now and can't rave about it enough. It's old school in the extreme in that last I looked they were one of two places in the U.S. that still manufactures everything by hand (including a true box spring). I believe they have a 10 year warranty. It's a linked coil design. You choose the firmness for them to create. They're pricey, but again I couldn't be happier. You can watch a short video on the construction here.

Nothing beats a Tempur-Pedic bed. I was lucky enough to sleep on one for a number of months, and I miss it every day.

The most important thing is to find a good store to try a bunch of beds out. Make sure they have a satisfaction guarantee that allows you to exchange the bed in 30 days if you don't like it.

I bought the Tempur-Pedic Deluxe last year. I love it.

Buying a matress is like buying a car. You haven't lived until you've gone through the experience.

Haggle. The listed price is there for some reason but not because that's what they sell it for.

One the best ways to save up to 80% is to get over to a major retailer (like Macy's or Bloomingdales) furniture outlet. They also will have a great selection of mattresses that were overstocked or returned. You simply go to the warehouse, pick out your actual mattress, check it for stains, etc, pay and go. I scored a $3000 pillow top no flip for $600.

Without knowing where your location is, it's tough to give good store advice, but these outlets are in the NY and NJ area.

I took my "boss" to the mall today, and we stopped by Brookstone which has the Tempur-Pedic, a type of Memory foam. My boss really likes it. I also found that Costco has the Novaform, a type of Memory foam, but I did not have chance to try the one from Costco.

Anyone has any impression on these mattresses ?

Latex looks pretty interesting...I gotta try it.

I tried Tempur Pedic and didn't really like it. It was too different for me. I sleep on my stomach, so I think that's a factor as it was pretty comfortable when I tried it on my back. It would also be no good for sex, there's like no bounce

Ed,

You can still have a Memory foam chair cushion to help you "Night owl" to enjoy your net surfing sessions every night....
