Skullcandy Aviator

I had some Skullcandy credit collecting dust, so I decided to purchase a pair of Aviators. I'm no longer interested in Skullcandy, and although these sounded like higher quality headphones based on other reviews I think I can do much better for $150. I haven't opened them yet so unless you convince me otherwise I will probably sell them (some advice about where to sell them would be nice). The main reason they didn't look to good is because of a lack of bass. I mainly listen to electronic so I need the bass, but also stuff like Radiohead and Sublime. So a neutral sound would be ideal. I'm willing to spend all the money I get from selling these headphones (unopened, so probably be $140-150). Some that interested me:
Shure 440/750 DJ/840
ATH M50
Ultrasone HFI-780
Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro
 
I enjoy my RP-HTF600's but they lack detail and crispness. Closed is best for me although I will be using them mostly at home.

Out of all the Skull Candy's ~ the Aviators are the only ones I've personally heard for myself that deserve
a mention.
 
I found them to be surprisingly competent, a little dark but reasonable nonetheless in terms of
clarity and detail.
 
Shure 840 ~ forget these, not enough bass for your needs, quite neutral and natural though.
 
You're going to struggle to find a neutral can that just so happens to have massive bass slam.
 
Beyer DT770 Pro should fit the bill.

Of course you pick the most expensive one on my list... Oh well those look like some comfy cans. Will my Clip+ be enough to power the 250ohm model? $190 for the 80ohm one is kind of a stretch.

DT 770 Pro 80ohms is perfect.

If you need isolation and better build then the you may like the M50s. But I personally prefer the sound of the Aviators over the M50s. Overall better balanced and nice timbre quality.
 
Edit: And there's no lack of bass. It's not excessive and it's not light to my ears. Just enough with some sweet mids and highs.

beyers are easy to drive as I hear, but the volume may suffer. But, as I've heard, the 80 ohm is the version you want for the extra thump. And that only about $40 or $50 more than you should get for your aviators. I've had the chance to hear the 80 ohm one once, and it was a nice flat response with a little bump in the mid bass, if I remember correctly, and had a very enjoyable sound. Comfy as hell too.

Same! I ended up with the Koss DJ100. To me they come pretty close to combining the fun bass of the Panasonic with the detail and vocals of the SRH840, I like them a lot. Not as bass heavy as the Panasonics though, if that's a problem.
 
Shouldn't go wrong with those Beyers, but if you want something cheaper there you go! $80+$20 for some M50 pads from sweetwater.

I forgot to look on eBay for lower prices. It's much cheaper there, I am defiantly going with the DT 770 Pro 80. They look soooo comfy and based on the reviews I think I will like the sound signature. Thanks everyone! Off to eBay to go sell these pieces of junk.
