Sorry to bring back an old thread, this comment was linked from another newish thread.

I think it's better to say that Sublime was wildly inconsistent. I saw them play at my college campus in '94 and they were great. I have maybe a half dozen taped shows and a handful of live recordings. Most are bad, but the good ones are nothing short of breathtaking. Esp some of their cover songs which were never committed to an album, such as Youth are Getting Restless and World of Inflation. Get the legendary Memories double disc live show - you will see the light.
