The general opinion is that the SinglePower amps sound great with pretty much any headphones, grado, sennheiser, sony...but what about K-1000's with a 1/4" adapter cable???

Very curious!

I asked about the chance of building an MPX3 that can drive the K1000. It is possible as Singlepower builds to order, but would require some additional changes. Most significant would be the additional tube requirements to generate enough power for the K1000. When I had the K1000, I plugged into my standard MPX3. It sounded pretty nice, but quickly ran out of power as soon as I started to raise the volume.

While the amp *should* sound very similar, given the openness of the Singlepower amps, and small change could affect the sound characteristics of the amp.

If you are interested, you should contact Mikhail directly - he's very responsive to questions.

Was just curious, as I am ordering a Maestro in a few days. I've always been interested in what K-1000's sounded like and wondered how it would pair with the Maestro. Guess it's time to start saving for a pair of R10's

I've talked to Mikhail on more than one occasion about building me an amp for the K1000. He can and will, if you want the amp.
Since the purchase of the HD650 I've sold off the K1000s so don't need the amp anymore. Just contact him and he can hook you up.
