So I was parked in a controlled-entrance underground parking garage for under 4 hours, and I lost my zune, an Alpine 9833, my Motorola bluetooth headset and the remote for my XM radio. He left the actual XM radio for some reason, and my sunglasses and the 87 cents in my ashtray. Sigh.

Anybody else have their cars busted into?

luckily not! but then again, my car is so old it doesnt even have a stereo, so there isnt really anything to steal... except for the car itself

I had some stuff stolen from my car several years ago at a mall parking deck. Luckily it wasn't busted in to; I stupidly left the doors unlocked. They made off with my 50+ CD wallet, a heavy duty Maglite flashlight, and the remote to my cars CD player (these guys must like remotes for some reason). They left everything else untouched, so I guess I got off easy. Sorry for your loss. Hopefully the SOB that did this will get what's coming to them.

Ugh, that really sucks. Was everything covered and hidden? If so, that was an unlucky choice that your car was the one he wanted to want to pick on.

Yea, I always take the faceplate off, and the zune was stuffed in the glove compartment. I drive a 1996 ford escort with body work done by me. It looks like crap, with the number of really nice cars down there I don't really understand why mine was picked on. Oh well.

probably because old fords have the most laughable locks ever. most of them could be opened using a normal housekey and some force

That sucks, sorry to hear it.

A few years ago someone smashed the driver's side window to my car and stole my radar detector (Passport 8500 X50). They ripped the whole thing out so it frayed the plug and cable that was hard wired so when I got a replacement I had to wire it all again. And I had to buy a new window. It was terrible. It was my fault, though, because for some reason I forgot to take the radar detector down when I left the car. The only time I forget to take it down it gets stolen. It wasn't even in a bad neighborhood, it was in the suburbs where I used to live and there was very very little crime.

Maybe because your car didn't look like it would have an alarm? If I was going to break into a car I wouldn't go for a mercedes that will taze me if I breathe on it. My girlfriend has had a lot of problems with break-ins at work and they always go for the older cars and leave the nice ones alone.

Yea, my old ford has pretty laughable locks, I admit. I kinda want to electrify the exterior of my car, but thats not really... "allowed"

Well, I'll be taking anything valuable in my car with me from now on, I've learned my lesson. Upon closer inspection the dash is scratched up, looks like the guy needed a screwdriver to get the deck out, I wonder if he damaged it, it popped out if you knew what to do. Guess I'll be keeping an eye on ebay and craigslist, see if he's that stupid.

A while back when I still owned my old '90-ish accord, I put in a cheap $100 jvc mp3 deck. I bought it thinking it was cheap, it looked cheap, so nobody would possibly think of breaking into my car, especially if I took the faceplate off, right?

Nope... came back to my car one morning to find the front side window bashed in and center console all scratched up.

Well they guys that stole my stereo left a screw driver in the car. I figure someday they'll come back for it and then I'll have them. It's been 8 years but I have patience.
