Let us know what you think, especially in relation to some of the comments here. If you find they have excessive mid-bass I'll eat my dog.

I would've made sure Amazon was the seller and bought them both, as ultimately the difference is in how you respond to them. They are so different, and Amazon's return policy is unbeatable.

I'm very happy with my HD595 but they dont seem to improve even after 150 hours of burn in.

The bass is a little bit lacking compared to my IE8 but overall, its very well worth the 200$ I've spend.

SRH840 doesn't require an amp but with one, it brings out the a lot more details.

But you can't really compare these 2 phones because one is open and other is closed.

I got a pair of 595's a month ago after reading all the good reviews. I've probably put about 100 hours on them so far. They sound amazing. I ordered the Cardas cable upgrade thats coming in soon. I do most of my listening on a Cowon S9 which I love. A few days ago I took the S9 into a Guitar Center and demo'd a pair of SRH840's and I was blown away. Now im thinking about getting a pair.
