At first the bass on the srh440 seemed less than I wanted but after a while i got used to it.then when i got back to the xb500,m50 and q40 my head started to hurt after 3 minutes at half volume lol so ima have to side with shure on this one.

Can't speak for the M50 but i'm telling you, the shure is bad 
i have a pair and i consider it as a bad purchase. The treble is pronounced and the sound stage is bad. The only thing i love about it is the price and the brand name good enough that i can pretend to be an audiophile while recording music. But when I'm alone, I prefer my cheap superlux hd661 and my SR60 over the SRH440.
