Shure srh240 upgrade !

Hello !
 
Im looking for upgrade from my shure 240. Id prefer an closed headphones as Im looking for portable solution.
My budget is MAX. $130 with shipping. I dont like recessed mids and too much bass. Id go for alessandro ms1 but they are open..
 
Hope that you can help me. Ask me any questions if needed.

If you like your current Shures you could always try the next model up - the SRH440.

How much an upgrade would they be ? I think I could even get srh840 for that price. I dont mind buying used if u ask, Im okay with that
What about ath50m ? I headt they have recessed mids, thats bad I think

I would go for the SRH840's over the ATH M50's tbh. The M50's have really punchy bass and I personally thought it was good, but the mid section was slightly laid back so the guitars on the song I was listening to was slightly recessed. The Shure has been known for the mid range and the 840 is no exception. The 840 has more bass than what you would expect in a neutral headphone but it isn't overpowering and sounds just right. 

I think the SRH840's would be a significant upgrade from the 240's!

You said you don't like boosted bass and recessed mids, that's how many people describe the M50.

At the moment Im considering Shure 840/440, KRK 8400, UE6000 and also alessandro Ms1 but Im really worried about their open construction. Do They leak sound as bad as They Say?

SRH840 is fine for metal (really a great all rounder). The headband is heavy though, so you might want to mod it.
 
If you're willing to go on ear instead, Mikros 90 sounds quite good for rock, metal, pop, and vocals after you burn it in.
 
So either of those.
 
 
KNS8400 is too resolving for metal. It's very analytical and will make your music sound bad. Ideal for monitoring.
 
M50 doesn't have good treble, which you need for guitars.
 
All the Grados and Alessandros leak badly.

OK guys, I have a problem over here: unfortunately my budget is down to 80$. Shures are not affordable then, same with Krk. What are your suggestions with that budget? I may go for iems if They will be much better.

NVX Audio XPT100 are $80. These are a neutral sounding headphone with excellent comfort. They are also the same cups and drivers (same sound) as the Brainwavz HM5 and Fisher FA-003, which have been popular in the $125 to $150 price range:

One manufacturer makes the components, and they are rebranded for the different companies. So great deal on the XPT100 at it's current price :)
