You may want to try an 1840 cable.  I had no trouble installing a 4-pin XLR since both left and right channels are separate on that cable.  Should be a cheap and easy solution.

  I didn't really burn mine in for more then 25hrs.

 
Noted thanks!  I burned-in mine for about 3 days, sounds smoother and more spacious now, less congested, more relax sounding

The P7 would be a better comparison given it's over ear and I believe the P5 is on-ear.

I have indeed. And as Byrnie said, it's not a fair comparison. P5 lacks in almost all aspect(maybe besides portability) when compared to SRH1540. P7, on the other hand, holds it's spot pretty well with it's rich bass. However, I still think SRH1540 out classes both P5 and 7.

SRH1540 barely fits my head at full extension. Very awkward to fit. Not so sure about this bass. 
 
SRH1840 is easier to fit and is more comfortable. Sounds much, much better so far. Really enjoying the sound.

Did some more testing but started to pads swap. OMG! It's the pads that create their different sounds!
 
SRH1540 with velours sound SO much better than with alcantara. Sounds almost like the SRH1840 stock. Although, they are even harder to fit my head.

Going to compare both with velours/alcantara side-by-side when I get home from work.

Yea I have a big head and they barely fit my fat head once fully extended.
