Shure SRH1540 Review

What are you guys using on the go? I've been looking for an on-ear that has a similar sound signature as the 1540, but no luck.

Also, totally argree with nicholars. This is why I'm having trouble finding what I'm looking for. These are not v-shaped, because if they were, I would have just stuck with the momentum on-ears.

Try the HD25, comfort is horrible though...

Personally really happy with QC25 but sounds different to the 1540.

Thanks. Though, isn't the HD25 very similar to the Amperior?

Seems like an obvious question but have you tried the SE846?

Nah, I'm happy with my XBA-H3 for in ear, just need something portable on-ear/over-ear. Plus, the 846 is way to rich for my blood.

Aren't the over ear Momentums mid-centric? I don't like my mids to be too forward. Mids on the 1540 are just how I like them.

Never tried the Amperior. Owned the Momentums they are much too dark to me... think HD650 then some. On top of that Momentum lacked the extension of the highs of HD650.

LOL... I thought we were on the subject of Momentum over ear (which is still partly on ear)

Regardless, I would hold off from purchasing any Momentum or any Urbanite... as the Gen 2 of both headphone series has came out. I assume Sennheiser improved the sound at lest a bit (much like the HD25 with Amperior) should be better in sound and for sure more portable.

I really like the Momentum, there is a new version, said to be larger(tight fit for an over the ear headphone), and "better" sounding (in quotes because I haven't heard these or read too much about them). But, this means you may find the current version at a good priceI paid around $120, a steal imo)

How is that a "flat" headphone? there is a no upper midrange and  a massive treble spike

What do you mean? Being flat doesn't required a massive treble spike...
Look at this graph: the mids would be inline(+- 3db) with the SE535(which is regarded mid-forward) if we ignore the bass or treble.

Again, the frequency response is a relative thing.

Anyway I was just saying that the SRH 1540 are not very "V" shaped like people keep saying.

Anyone here also own the Shure SE846? I heard they sound similar? Think it is worth owning both?
