So....which would be better for listening to dubstep? I am not a basshead, I am still concerned with overall sound quality, though bass is important when it comes to dubstep regardless. I don't use an amp and I use an lg optimus 2x to listen to my music so im not too fancy when it comes to source.

From my experience with SHR750DJ I cannot say I was overly impressed with them. There's a lot of mid bass / not much sub bass, I found it hard to call them basshead material, I also had a lot of trouble selling them. I had to amp them for any real benefits and those benefits were very small. If you're not too concerned about sound quality so much as bass look at the Sony XB500 which are also easier to drive from an unamped source. (SHR750DJ sound better though but not for bass) Haven't heard SHR840 sorry.
