I also bought SE530s and I am also wondering about which player would sound better than my 80GB iPod 5.5G with many different genres of music. ....

For headphone out the Zune first generation is wonderful-- I have not auditioned the current generation though.

On another note, the other day at work I took my rig out to listen and discovered my iPod Classic 160G was out of juice. While recharging, I listened to the e500s via the Classic's headphone jack. Terrible. YMMV

Well, I run my SE530's straight out of my iPod Nano or Clip when portability is must, but at home I use some tweaked tips and the Corda Meier Move, and I've never heard something THAT good.

I use it with my iPhone 3G but sometimes the headphone jack starts acting up with the extension cables (not using one it works fine) so I don't know what's up with that. May get the Clip if Walmart has it for $49.

Do iTouch 2Gs hiss with SE530? Im currently using Touch 1G with se530, and I just can't stand the hiss! Some say it is defective ones on 45th week of production or something.. .but mine is not made on 45th week but it sure hiss like hell... and I have a feeling that all Touch 1G hiss!!!!
Anyone experince tat in 2G?

Listening to some trance and dance tunes on the Sansa Fuze with my E500s and there's not much to like with this pairing. Everything sounds tinny; soundstage is narrow; and there's a ton of reverb and echoes. A number of tracks lack bass impact and extension. The EQ settings are all over the map and artificial. Lastly, the hp jack is poorly designed and chewed up my plug. Overall, there's very little synergy here and the Fuze makes the E500s sound like disposable buds.

I use an iPod Classic, and I don't hear any hiss that people often talk about. I'd love to upgrade to the Cowon S9, but the amount of space given to me with the Classic (which in turns gives me more flexibility) far outweighs a better sound. Maybe I'm losing the HF touch? LOL

I can't detect any hiss using my E500s with the iPod touch 2G, unlike the X, S9, and Fuze. Speaking of which, I paired the Sony buds (that came with the X) with the Fuze; and there's a lot more synergy with this pairing. The Fuze is a half decent player with the right IEMs.

I have both the iPod Classic and Touch 2G, and there's hiss when using the SE530. But I can only hear the hiss when there's no music playing. Not a big problem, just annoying sometimes.

using an N95 8GB with oggplay w/ my SE530's. Sounds really good, granted a little colored. There are no EQ settings with OGGPLAY though. No hiss with headphones in, slight hiss as music starts up. Granted I listen at very high volumes.
