Hello everyone, I currently own a set of SE-846s and love them to death, but I'm really considering trading them in for a set of 535s and pocketing the rest of the cash. Is the difference between them night and day? I really enjoy the tight bass of the 846s, will that still be present with the 535s? Thanks!

I can't compare then directly and each person will have varying opinions on sound quality and value, but general conses is that the SE864 is a fairy sizable step up from the SE535. You will defiantly not get the same bass from the SE535.

I have the SE530 virtually identical to the SE535 except with more rolled of treble and non-removable cable. Though my SE530s have always sounded great, I did wish they had a bit more bass. The bass quality is good but the quantity is less then I would like, as I like a but more bass than neutral (maybe more then just a bit more).

Coming from SE846 I think you, and most people, would be disappointing moving to the SE535. If you already spent the money and like them, I recommend keeping them (unless you really need the cash).

just my opinion.

Mate check out my thread. I have made a comparison between these 2.

I wouldn't trade them if you're are loosing too much on it. IMO it's not worth the additionally 600 bucks but definitely a better pair.

Having gotten recently gotten both and comparing, I can say with confidence KEEP THE SE846. You will miss the bass. The SE535 is down right anemic in comparison.

Of course if you really REALLY need the cash, that's a different story.

I've purchased both (and still have the 846's)...no point selling the 846's now (agreeing with everyone else posting).

535's are nice, but weak a weak sister.  Lack punch and bass.

I sold my 535s to a friend for $350....seen the 846s selling for about $600-650.  Best case, you're looking at $300 in your pocket.

The key is once you sell them and "pocket the cash", you'll soon be back pulling more $$ out of your pocket to buy them again (or something in their class).

and if you really NEED the cash - go buy some $100 IEMs and save real $$.
