Hi fellow head-fiers,

after 7 years one of my Shure SE 425 MMCX connectors finally gave in.
They didn't get much playing time lately because of new toys, but I still like to listen with them from time to time.

I have spare MMCX connectors to resolder them, but after removing the old MMCX connector I'm not quite sure how to solder the new one.

Does one of the outer pins and the middle pin have to be connected to the same exposed copper line on the ribbon cable? (see attached images)

That's a tricky one. It looks like you have a board mounted MMCX socket there. The two outer connections are ground and the middle pin is signal, I think that's easy enough.

It looks from your picture that there are two solder pads, one on the flying lead and one on the body of the assembly, solder them up and bobs your uncle.

I can't say which is ground and which is the signal though, look for +/- symbols on the assembly.
