the new ipods have good batt. life and if you import your cds in lossless format, they sound great. I have the e500's with a video ipod and lossless files, and it sounds incredable togther. And when I want perfection, I add my Ray Sammuels SR-71 portable amp. The 3 of them together, (with a line out of course) sounds as good maybe better than my ue-10's that I paid $1,000 for. I am not finished analizing the two cause I just got the 500's a week ago. But lossless format, line out (sik din, pocket dock, etc.) and a good amp are key. Without all the right components you might as well return tha 500's.

Meh, the iPod never sounded impressive ampless IMO.

With a line-out dock and a nice amp it'll really shine, though.

Might as well go the whole hog and get an H140, MicroDAC and a good amp...
