Anyone has tried the E500 with the resistor that converts the ER4P into ER4S? Does the SQ change?

I am using that exact setup. The P to S adaptor cured the hiss problem that I had before (My setup is EMU 1212m --- PPA --- E500). Unfortunately I do think that there is a slight difference in SQ. The best I can describe it is that the sound loses a bit of its "sparkle" and sounds very slightly veiled or muffled when using the adaptor as compared to without it. However to me, getting rid of the hiss (which I find really annoying) is easily worth the subtle change in SQ.

Interestingly, I get no hiss whatsoever using the E500s with my Rio Carbon, but with my PPA the hiss is quite marked (although there is no hiss whatsoever usng the PPA with any of my other headphones eg ER4s, Sennheiser HD650, Koss KSC 75).

Do you think you lose something in the high frequencies?
