I have enjoyed my Shure E5's for several months and just noticed that in both left and right earpieces, there is some white fibrous filter-like material that has separated from the metallic ring in the sound port. The filter material is now loose in the earpiece. It is impossible for a consumer to remove. Surely it must interfere with the fidelity of the sound.

Has anyone else noticed this with their E5 earphones?

Ah yes... the dreaded filter separation. It's quite easy to do by accident if you get overzealous with the cleaning tool. You need to get the filters changed. Now I do not know if Shure does this as a service within the warranty period since the filter is so easy to poke through, or whether they charge you for it. Hopefully Sugarfried can pop into this thread.

A DIY alternative (and I've done it a couple of times now) are the Ety filters and the Ety filter changing tool. Sonic change? I can't tell.
