Shure Aonic 3, Aonic 4, and Aonic 5

Looking at the video. Hey Shure! It is 2020 almost 2021. Who still uses metal memory wires. Most would change out the cable I think to ditch that and the mic pod unless it is needed. Seeing he had trouble with the fit. My course would be wide bore tips so I would use adapters and have tips all the way on as far back as they go so the connection doesn't stick out that far. Metal wire may come in handy since you may bend it in toward the head to run it over the ear better.

Used to love the E4 and was interested/tempted in getting these but probably going for the new Final A4000 instead.

Are they meant to be worn over ear though?

Yes, unless you change to a cable with no memory portion. I would try them straight down myself for sure but you need to have a cable that isn't that microphonic. They do have the ability to isolate well which will really make wearing down a challenge. If your asking if you could wear them stock straight down you can straighten the memory wire and see how that works for you :).

Still not sure about the bendable type of ear guide and 3.5 jack with mic and controls at this point in time. Maybe just standard cable and sell Apple and USB C cables with mic/controls as options. Isn't the headphone jack going away and devices that still use 3.5mm and register the controls and such are the minority now. Though I have a Ruizu clip player that is 3.5mm and has wire control to make use of the buttons on the pod.

I personally take 'Major H-Fi' reviews with a grain of salt...

Yes, of course. Just as every review, especially from those publications that start with their disclaimer that while they got the item for free they of course will be completely honest. Major Hi-Fi don't have a clear policy of "no gift" either (at least I don't know of one), so it's not trustworthy in my eyes.
In the end reviews don't help much these days I think. There are too many guys to even remember their taste (or name), most seem inexperienced (regarding reviews) and I often have to question their motives. So I just glance them over mostly, if the product in question really interests me I've got to listen myself anyway.

I really valued Tylls reviews though.

Yes, I'd prefer to read an honest, even if not completely accurate, review by a Head-Fier than by them.
I lost faith after comparing my experience of a heavily used IEM I own and know inside out with what one of their reviewers was
writing about. Just a few lines of nice looking sentences with no correspondence to the truth.
I would really like the Aonic 4 to sound as this review says though...

I know what you mean... I had this experience with most review sites, when I was thinking "does this person even talk about the same model I know?". Just recently I read a review of the Focal Utopia, lauding its bass response especially with EDM. Say what? One of the, in my opinion, most anemic sounding headphones that hides when you even mention the word "bass"?

unfortunately there are not many reviews of the Aonic 4 available as of yet, because contrasting reviews my sometimes yield some information as well. I do have some interest in them, but am a bit wary of simply buying them -- I very much like my SE846 and my custom N8, I don't know if there's even enough timeframe another in-ear...

I can hear both briefly. AONIC4 & 5. The processes is really very good. The accessory is located. Both are very comfortable to my ears. However, I was disappointed with the sound quality. Dull, poor resolution, minimal spatiality and poor bass quality. Maybe the time was a little too short for testing.
But I bought a CTM CE320 for significantly less money (250 €). This IEM is in a much higher league. Especially in terms of sound. I may have to revise my opinion later because I will test AONIC 4 and 5 again. My LG G7 Thinq served as the player (0.87 ohm output impedance).

Can someone tell me if Aonic 4 is louder or equally loud as the Shure 535 (Red)?

For 1 mW of power, the Aonic 4 produces 106 dB while the Shure 535 produces about 119 dB. However, in many cases the amount of power that an amplifier can drive is dependent on impedance; generally (not always) lower impedance allows an amp to flow more power through. The Aonic 4 has 9 ohms of impedance while the 535 has 36 ohms. All measurements are taken at 1 kHz; the source is Shure.

Can't find many reviews of the Aonic 5, the odd one or two but they have conflicting outcomes.

Can anyone give any advice on these as I'm seriously considering them and returning the IE300's.

The IE300's are a little bottom heavy with not enough brightness up top which then also leaves the mids a bit recessed to my ears. They just don't inspire me to listen to them much (nevermind the cable being a glasses wearer).

For reference I prefer the presentation of the IE100 Pro (disregarding technicalities) and the Fiio FA1 but looking a more refined version of both if that makes sense.

Not much to go on I know but just wondering if the Aonic 5's are a good option. I'm not talking about value here, purely SQ.

Do you guys prefer soundwise the silicon tips or foam tips?
