Hey I know this has been controversial, but i strongly feel that shure made a step backwards with their new line:
 
-- the older 420's sank in for a deeper fit, and had much more strong bass presence
 
-- the newer 425's (EVEN with the longly overdated detachable cables) look slick, but they are uncomfortable to wear on for >1 hr. And the SQ/soundstage isn't as wide as the 420's because of the worse fit..
 
Anyone else have this feeling about the 530/535 before I try out the 535?

I believe the SE425 and SE535 have the same shells so the fit issue will persist for you. I find the new Shures to be very comfortable, but everyone had different ears. The SE425 is aimed towards a more neutral and linear sound while the old SE420 had a more "typical" Shure sound; fun and warm, glorious mids. The SE535 is an improvement over the SE535 apparently because it fixes the sound issues the SE530 had (something about a treble issue?). I don't own the SE535 and I only tried the SE535 several times so I don't know that much about them.
